I'm looking at a teaching English Job in Antalya but the salary seems like it might be a bit low. Is it reasonable to live on a 1800 lira/month budget if rent is covered by the employer?

Hello Nander3 :)

Welcome to Antalya and AC. I think this is an open end question but if you live a very basic life, 1800TL can be enough of course.

We have a forum thread shows the cost of living in Turkey please see that one too. :)

Hi Nander3,

Welcome to Antalya! I saw your post and my first question is: how many hours (and is the hour 60 minutes or less?) per week will you be teaching?

Where is the housing located?

Annie

I think for one person that's doable probably a bit tight if you have to run a car too but otherwise 1800 exc. rent isn't bad. Just a word of warning make sure you get it! In teaching jobs most of the wages are promises and IOUBINITPs (I Owe U But I Never Intend To Pay)

IOUBINITPs (I Owe U But I Never Intend To Pay) B)

There's a saying in Turkish for this:

Borcum borç, ne öderim ne inkar ederim. (I owe you, I neither pay it nor deny it)

Sad thing is, I've heard it in Antalya for the first time.....It's terrible :X

Which school will you be teaching?

If it has the words " kulture" and "American" in the title I would run for the hills!:)
