Divorce under Turkish law - asset regulations

UNDER Turkish law the financial aspects of a divorce case are subject to asset regulations (Mal rejimi) as agreed upon by the couple or as stated by law if the parties have no prior agreement.

Turkish law allows two types of asset regulations: those provided by law and those agreed upon by the couple.

The asset regulations automatically provided by law bring with them a "division of acquired assets." If the couple does not have an agreement on the division of assets, the couple shall be subject to the regulation of "division of acquired assets."
